Although this unit does not impact on the interest features of the SSSI, it forms part of the management unit. The nature conservation interest could be improved by controlling bracken, removing grazing pressure by stock proof fencing, and encouraging regeneration of native woodland species.

Hawthorn and holly understorey with luxuriant ground flora of bilberry, ferns, mosses and bryophytes. Good proportion of dead wood and veteran trees. Lack of canopy gaps and deer browsing are preventing regeneration. If there is no regeneration within the next 10 - 15 years natural regeneration should be encouraged by protecting any seedling trees regenerating in gaps.
