Habitats - links to States and Values

For each habitat a summary of the most likely states that exist are described. These may relate to the overall stability of the habitat (such as for shingle beaches), or successional change (as in reedbeds) or to the influence of grazing (saltmarshes and sand dunes). Links to the sections on habitat states and from there to the values of each state are given below:

 

Caveat: The identification of the States and Values is largely based on a subjective assessment made by the compiler of the Guide. Every attempt has been made to be as objective as possible. However, you may disagree with the assessments! If you do, this should not inhibit the use of the Guide!

The next stage in the process is to consider the restoration options and how these can be achieved.
