Biodiversity index - action plans in the UK

Habitat Action Plans are available on the UK Biodiversity web site is hosted by the Joint nature Conservation Committee @ http://www.ukbap.org.uk/. For each of the main habitats a summary description is provided. It identifies the current issues affecting them and the broad policies which can be put in place to address these. A brief summary of the national targets for the habitats covered in this guide are provided through the links given below:

Species Action Plans have also been prepared which may overlap with the Habitat Action Plans. The JNCC web site provides detailed information on the threats facing 391 species and the opportunities for maintaining and enhancing their populations.

A further set of Local Area Action Plans provide the focus for local action which will be required to reach the national targets for habitats and species.
