Restore America's Estuaries

The aim of this organisation is to preserve the nation's network of estuaries by protecting and restoring the lands and waters essential to the richness and diversity of coastal life. Restore America's Estuaries is an alliance of regional, coastal community-based environmental organizations with a combined membership of over 250,000 citizens.

A wealth of useful information which can be found on the web site @ http://www.estuaries.org/. This includes:

A National Strategy to Restore Coastal and Estuarine Habitat. This National Strategy aims to provide a framework for restoring function to coastal and estuarine habitat. It seeks to ensure that restoration priorities are established, diverse programs are coordinated to maximize benefits, and public expectations are both established and met. Restore America's Estuaries worked closely with scientists, community leaders, non-governmental organizations and representatives of government at all levels to develop this strategy. Together with the "Estuarine Research Federation" they have produced a document entitled the "Principles of Estuary Habitat Restoration" this and the Estuary Restoration Act of 2000 can be downloaded in pdf format from the web site.
