North Norfolk CHaMP - Index

The North Norfolk coast is one of the finest natural coastlines in Britain and is one of the few examples of a barrier coast in Europe. The complex of salt marshes, sand dunes, mudflats and grazing marsh have been modified by human activities over many years and now makes an important contribution to flood defence and the agricultural and tourist economy. The site includes Saltfleetby & Theddlethorpe Dunes candidate Special Area of Conservation (cSAC), The Wash & North Norfolk cSAC, The Wash Special Protection Area (SPA) and North Norfolk Coast SPA.

Each of the sites shown above provide a specific example of restoration activities as follows:

Caption: The location of examples of habitat restoration are shown on the figure. Links are provided to more detailed information (click on the red circles or names and in the Wash).

Note: A copy of the Executive Summary for this CHaMP is included on the CD-ROM.
