The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust

The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust http://www.wwt.org.uk/ is an international wetland conservation charity based in the UK. It was founded in 1946 by the artist and naturalist Sir Peter Scott (1909 - 1989), WWT has 9 visitor centres around the UK, where people can get closer to wetland birds and enjoy spectacular wetland landscapes. The Trust undertakes research including for the creation and restoration of wetlands and advice based on this scientific expertise is available through WWT’s ecological consultancy, Wetlands Advisory Service (WAS). Two publications of relevance to coastal habitat restoration are:

 

    1. "Wetlands, Industry and Wildlife: a Manual of Principles and Practices". This provides practical advice to help industries manage, restore and create wetlands;
    2. "Demonstration Reedbed Filtration Systems", providing a practical approach to their creation and management.

Both are available directly from the WWT at their Slimbridge Headquarters, Slimbridge, Glos., GL2 7BT.
