Climbing dunes

Climbing dunes develop in exposed coastal areas where a 'veneer' of sand is blown up over a cliff to form dunes on the cliff slopes and tops. Examples can be found on the exposed shoreline in Scotland and especially species rich examples on the coast of Portugal at Cape St Vincent.
