| Lesson 1: 'Coastal Homes'
Estate Agents - Who are they? In this lesson children
learn about coastal regions and some of the habitats that can
be found there. They research a coastal habitat, finding out
what that habitat offers and what creatures might be found living
there. The children are introduced to the ‘Coastal Homes’
estate agents. |

| Lesson 2: Home for sale.
First, the children present their research findings to the rest
of the class. They then look at a range of real house sale details
and examine the language used. After reading an advert for a
home for a guillemot on a cliff, the children produce their
own advertisement for coastal habitat properties. |

| Lesson 3: The clients - what
do they want? In this lesson, the children now research
some of the marine life around our coasts. They create a fact
file for a coastal animal, focusing on what it would need to
survive. They then swap fact files and visit the ‘Coastal
Homes’ estate agent! They have to try and find a property
suitable for them. |

| Lesson 4: Habitat threat!
This lesson explores marine conservation. The children receive
a memo from the estate agents asking them for help. They, as
animals, must write a newspaper article to try and make humans
more aware of the problems they are creating through pollution
and development. Children are also encouraged to find out what
is being done with regards to such problems. |
