How to get there: Within easy walking/cycling distance of Norwich city centre. From the city centre, follow the inner ring road to the Kett's Hill/Plumstead Road) exit. After about 600m turn right into Wellesley Avenue and go straight on to the end and the wood is on the right. Please park with consideration for the residents. Bus services 11, 13, 19 and 20 from the city centre serve Plumstead Road, alight here and walk to the wood along Wellesley Avenue South (tel. 0870 6082608 for information and fares).
Visitor facilities: Many informal paths, interpretation board at the main entrance. Occasional walks and work parties organised by Friends group.
What to see: Mainly Oak-Sycamore woodland with some very large trees. About a third of the wood is thought to be ancient.

Sweet Chestnut, beech, hornbeam, wild cherry, silver birch and holly. Good for bluebells. A range of woodland birds including jay, blackcap, greater-spotted and green woodpeckers and sparrowhawk.
